IIRC, in Sir Thomas More’s Utopia, part of a marriage negotiation involved each of the partners being required to show themselves naked to the other party’s family. Or at least an inspection committee.
That was actually not an uncommon practice in the Middle Ages. Not entirely common, but not unheard-of, either.
It’s still practiced by African tribes such as the Masai (thank goodness for National Geographic).
